Nicholas Balcken Brewer

Nicholas was a Mathematics major at The College of Wooster in Ohio, where he played collegiate golf.  He comes to us after brewing at Heavy Seas Brewing and Jailbreak Brewing, both in Maryland.  Before he was a Brewer he was a Golf Professional on the east coast for 9 years.  When he’s not at the Brewery you’ll find him with a beer in hand on the river, on his snowboard, playing nerdy board games, camping, playing soccer, or softball, or any other sport.  Nicholas is married, to his lovely wife, Rachael, who puts up with his dog, Sugar.  The beer would be an IPA…

Wednesday, Oct 16th - IPA dry-hopped with fresh CTZ hops

CTZ hops have floral and citrus notes in both aroma and flavor, but can be very pungent, which makes CTZ great for late additions to a boil or dry-hopping

Friday, Oct 18th - Mandarina Bavaria & Amarillo dry-hopped Hop Harvest IPA

Amarillo have a very distinct orange flavor as well as some tropical fruit. Mandarina Bavaria hops are a German variety that lend tangerine and citrus aromas.

Singlemalt IPA conditioned on fresh orange juice and zest, dry-hopped with Citra hops. Citra® is currently one of the most sought after hops among craft and home brewers for their intense citrus aroma and flavor. Grapefruit and lime aromas along with gooseberry, passion fruit, and lychee notes.

Scottish Ale with molasses, ginger, cinnamon sticks, allspice, cloves, and vanilla beans

Wednesday, Oct 30th - Cherry Vanilla Scottish with Whiskey

Scottish Ale conditioned on cherries, vanilla beans, and Headframe Spirits Neversweat Whiskey soaked oak spirals

Friday, Nov 1st - Dark + Stormy IPA

Singlemalt IPA conditioned with fresh ginger, lime juice, and oak spirals soaked in Gulch Distillers Flintlock Spiced Rum
