Märzens are a classic lager similar to Oktoberfests that originated in Bavaria and were traditional brewed in March as it was the last month beers were able to be brewed before the invention of refrigeration. The Blackfoot’s Märzen is based on the Austrian style of Märzens because it’s more malty than bitter. The German Munich, Crystal and Vienna malts provide the dark color as well as a toasty malt sweetness and a slight roasted character which gives an aroma and flavor of sweet bread crusts. The Märzen Lager is a medium-bodied, easy drinking lager with dry malty finish.
